1993 Cadillac DeVille Trunk Pull Down Motor issue.
Video below:
It took some doing, but I figured out a solution to my 1993 Cadillac DeVille Trunk Pull Down Motor issue. It wasn’t the motor, and it wasn’t the switch… a little old-school ingenuity solved this issue for free.
What happened? My wife pops the trunk and reports it popped much louder than normal and then when she closed it, the latch would not retract at all. She was right, but we were at the restaurant with no tools and no time so I waited. Funny, the trunk closed on her way home that day.
Without even looking at it, I start searching for common issues and solutions on YouTube and after absorbing all I could, I headed out and started disassembling the trunk latch. The panel that covers the motor popped off like it wanted to and 4 cross tip screws were all it took to reveal everything I needed to see.
You will see in the video that it was NOT the motor, it was NOT the switch, and everything works fine without replacing anything.
Total working time: 45 minutes over 2 days.
As always, thank you for your visit.
